Voices | Haluwa Jack – China

21 year-old Chinese student Huluwa Jack lives in the remote, beautiful city of Dali. A member of China’s minority Lisu tribe, singing’s always been part of Huluwa’s life – it’s how the Lisu pass on their history to new generations. Now through his own music, Huluwa’s tapping into this powerful cultural heritage and revitalising traditional Lisu music with his own modern twist. ‘I can feel clearly that the climate and the environment is changing’, says Haluwa and he really wants to continue the Lisu tradition of singing about his people and their connection to the landscape and environment.
