The world’s nations emerged from Kyoto two years ago with an agreement by the industrialised nations designed to stabilise and then reduce greenhouse gases. At the Bonn meeting of 161 governments we find that little progress has been made, especially in the United States where there is no sign that its mighty 25 per cent share of the world’s energy use is likely to be reduced. Meanwhile there is a small but vocal minority who argues that the case for climate change is still unproven. Earth Report goes to the cloud forests of Costa Rica, the Highlands of Ethiopia and to Chesapeake Bay in the USA to find that the evidence for a changing climate is overwhelming.
