In Japan we see how the upkeep of golf courses uses 7X the amount of pesticides used in intensive agriculture; this use and the rapid increase of courses places the area’s water supply in trouble. In Lesotho 2 new dams are being built to supply water and electricity to South Africa’s civil engineering projects. These dams and tunnels are causing major upheaval to the indigenous farmers.
The International Hands On this week comes from Lake Taal in the Philippines. This area is prone to drought and has found a solution to its water problems in the shape of a wind pump.
