Hands On : It's a Gas
It's a Gas looks at how the latest in solar, wind and bio-gas technologies provide energy answers where there is no national grid. (1999)
This second Hands On programme - the Earth Report strand that features green enterprise around the world - looks at energy. While those living in the 'developed' world take light, heat and TV for granted, millions of people living in rural areas have no 'flick of a switch' solution to their energy needs. It's a Gas looks at how the latest in solar, wind and bio-gas technologies provide answers where there is no national grid. And in Austria we see how woodchips generate enough heat to power an Alpine village. This programme will also be accompanied by an information service accessible by fax, post, e-mail or the TVE website. (1999)
