The oceans influence everyone and everything on earth, from climate to crops. Until recently we knew little about complex oceanic systems, but now the science of our seas is undergoing a revolution. Earth Reporter Dr Susan Wijffels, one of the world's top oceanographers, works at the forefront of scientific discovery. We follow Susan and her colleagues as they collect and interpret data from an array of free floating oceanic robots - known as argo floats after Jason and the Argonauts.
