Thousands of Bosnian muslims are gathering today to mark the 17th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre when more than 8000 men and boys were murdered by Serb forces, when they overran the town during the Bosnian war of 1992 - 1995.

520 newly identified victims will be laid to rest today, the latest stage in a long process to identify the remains of thousands, whose bodies were systematically concealed in mass graves by the perpetrators.

tve's 2004 film 'Return to Srebrenica' followed the work of the International Commission for Missing People whose teams have been using forensic science to identify human remains and return the bodies to families for burial.
